Every great CV requires a great cover letter
Cover letters are a critical part of the job application process.
Its purpose is to introduce you to the employer as a strong candidate and briefly illustrate how your skill and experience match those needed to do the job.
If you are wondering if you should include a cover letter with your CV or application, the answer is ‘yes’, unless it has been specifically stated in the application instructions that one should not be included. A well-written cover letter gives you the chance to sell yourself to the employer in a narrative format, as opposed to a formal CV, and affords you the opportunity to highlight your strongest qualifications. It will also make clear why you are interested in the job and the organisation.
A cover letter also gives you the chance to include details which would not normally found in the CV. For example, if you are applying from a different location or leaving the forces, you will be able to present a rationale for relocating.
Writing an impactful cover letter takes practice. Whilst we need to write a targeted letter which goes beyond the information in your CV, it’s important to keep it short and sharp.
All of our CV Services include the option for a professionally-written cover letter.
But don’t take our word for it
Months of firing my CV off to companies with nothing back. Forces CV Services overhauled it, first application with the new CV and I have a job offer! If there’s one investment you need to make when looking fora new role it’s Forces CV Services!
I have never had a moments doubt that I would receive my perfect CV and Forces CV Services has duly delivered. They have made the whole process that little less scary. All I can say is thank you!!! Sian has just been simply amazing during the whole process of creating my CV, from the moment I contacted Forces CV Services, I genuinely felt that I had someone in my corner who really cares. Amazing service, amazing person and now a friend!
Forces CV Services recently completed my CV as I finished my time in the military 3 years ago and had not updated it since. From the start communication was excellent; from advising on which package to request to providing in depth questions to enhance the roles I had already undertaken. The comprehensive response was just what I required and as previous sceptic of paying someone to write your CV, I am totally grateful to Sian on what she provided. With the package I requested, a covering letter and additional cv for an alternative role plus updates for 12 months this is a worthwhile investment in your own career. Thank you Forces CV Services. I truly appreciate your work and obviously recommend others to contact you.
I start a new position on Monday and would like to pass on my thanks to Forces CV Services for helping me with my CV. It can be no coincidence that a month after my new CV ‘went live’ I had 5 interviews and was offered 3 of those positions. I have also turned down 3 more interviews since accepting my new role. If anybody is after CV advice, especially ex-forces/service leavers, I would highly recommend Forces CV Services.
